CHAPTER 9

“Where do you think you are going to?” Sinn asked and blocked me before I got to the door. He moved so fast I bumped into him, but I was too pissed to praise his speed.

“Where do you think?” I shot back, breathing heavily. Linda patted Chloe’s hand, then walked over to us. “Why are we wasting time here while our enemy is stalking Drima Falls? Why are you trying to stop me when you should be helping me? Don’t you want to end this?” I asked as they glanced at each other.

“Get out of my way,” I said and tried to walk past him, but Sinn moved his body to the door, blocking it.

“You aren’t going out like this. You are pissed and you are not thinking straight. You aren’t likely to make an informed decision,” Sinn said, and I shook my head. This wasn’t a decision. It was a necessity and the only move we had.

“You guys, stopping me is the wrong decision.” I wasn’t going to back down, and I let my anger show.

Linda sighed. “Answer me this. I know you are going to Ravana Victious’ home. So, tell me what your plan is once you get there.”

“It’s simple. I’m going to ask her why she did what she did. How she could betray Chloe and the coven’s trust,” I said angrily as this little talk was delaying us from stopping the messenger of the Dark God.

“So, you expect Ravana, an elder witch, and who we just found out is the messenger of the Dark God, to just confess to you? That she would be forthcoming with that information when she has hidden it so well?”

“Yes, I will warn her that she can’t go against the coven alone and if she puts an end to all this, I will keep my mouth shut and she can live her life for as long as it doesn’t affect mine or Chloe’s.”

Sinn huffed. “Oh please. That will never happen. She is powerful and seeks more. She isn’t going to be afraid of a witch with little magic.”

His words stung, and I knew he meant them, too. Not to hurt me, but to make me see reason. I could see his point. I just didn’t want to back down. Any chance to save Chloe was worth taking. “She was reasonable once. Maybe she can be again. I only want to talk to her. But if she wants to fight, then she’s about to find out what I am willing to do to save my daughter.”

“What you are willing to do? Are you even listening to yourself?” Linda asked, placing her hands on her hips. She was mad, but I was livid and desperate. It was obvious that they were united against me, and I wasn’t going to win this argument. “She would snap your neck without breaking a sweat. Your magic is faulty, remember? Even when it’s at full power, you are no match for an elder witch. If you were, then you would be a council member, not Ravana.
